The Story of a Mother and Her Deaf Daughter
This touching story is based on a real account by author Tressa Bowers as she relates the joys and challenges she encountered raising her daughter Alandra. Tressa's refusal to accept that Alandra would be uneducated because she was "stone deaf", as well as financial troubles, forced mother and daughter to move several times in their life. Although Bowers had no contacts with people who were deaf or knew sign language, she set out to provide Alandra with all of the opportunities that hearing children had.
